The Natural Anxiety Specialist is the place to come if you feel stressed and anxious and want to reduce your anxiety naturally, without medication. We are an integrative clinic both online and in person, using a Natural 8 Step Integrative approach. Once we understand how your anxiety presents, we then use a combination of Counselling, Physical Review, Well Being, Nutrition, Exercise and Lifestyle to eliminate anxiety from your life naturally.
At the Natural Anxiety Specialist we are experts at the mind-body connection. When anxiety is chronic it affects the way systems in our body function; and conversely, if there is an imbalance in the physical body, it can cause anxiety to be a symptom. For treatment to be successful, it is essential that you are treated as a whole person taking into account your emotional, psychological and physical aspects.
Our aim is to treat your anxiety as well as equip you with tools you can use if your anxiety ever returns later in your life.
Who we Treat
Anxiety does not know how old you are. It can occur in children under 5, in the elderly and everyone in between. Sometimes initial feelings of anxiety have begun for a specific reason, and sometimes they have not. You may be one of those people for whom anxiety has become chronic and you are not sure why. At the Natural Anxiety Specialist, we are experienced at dealing with acute and chronic anxiety, and have tailored our approaches to work effectively with all life stages and ages.
The heart of our natural integrative approach is treating
each client as a complete, unique individual.
We treat children as young as 4. With very young children we find it important not to label the issues but to address them through the eyes of the child. With slightly older children anxiety can occur from bullying issues and a lack of confidence can often be present. We approach each case as an individual and bring the most appropriate techniques that are effective for that child.
Teens can experience anxiety caused by issues such as social pressures, physical imbalances during puberty, or from academic pressures. We are experienced in communication with these ages in a way that they feel heard, understood and supported. It is key that they feel in charge of their recovery and enabled to carry out changes that they can manage, which make a significant difference. With this age group we tackle the social media issues that are sometimes part of the problem. See our Online De-Stressing Exams Program.
Young adults can have all kinds of extra pressures in western society. They are often living out of home for the first time, studying, having more serious relationships and for the first time juggling all the facets of life alone; so things can seem overwhelming. Anxiety can occur with a lack of lifestyle management and awareness. We provide education about self-help methods and self-management as well as tackling any underlying causations.
In adulthood you may have encountered stressful life events such as divorce, death, redundancy or financial worries. Sometimes seemingly insignificant life events or transitions can cause anxiety. Everyone is an individual and we combine all our techniques to treat and teach adults. We respect autonomy and so work to foster self-responsibility and self-management in our clients.
We love what we do and love the results even more!
How we Work
Our Natural 8 Step Integrative Approach
1. Your Stress and Anxiety Issues
We start with your individual experience by listening to what your stress and anxiety feels like, and how it impacts your life. Everyone is different so it is important we start with you. Once we have understood what makes your anxiety particular to you, we can then move onto step 2.
2. Physical Health Review
Then we identify any underlying physical issues that may be causing your anxiety. We do this by working in conjunction with your other healthcare providers and carry out clinical testing if required. With chronic anxiety it is often expressed in the body as physical symptoms, so we treat both your mind and your body.
We use a two stage approach with counselling. We teach the latest mindset and behavioural techniques to prevent the ‘anxiety spiral’. And we use a depth psychology approach to identify any causes or trauma that may have started the anxiety in the first place. We work gently through these so you can make choices free from anxiety.
4. Diet and Nutrition
Eating a healthy, balanced diet is important for recovery of anxiety. We use diet, supplements and nutrition to treat and manage anxiety hormones and to provide you with a healthy balanced body that can relax and de-stress.
Just as important is how and when you move your body. Exercise is a key factor in stress and anxiety reduction and in its management. We create recommendations based on your needs and restrictions.
Studies show the benefits of techniques such as breathwork, meditation and TRE (Trauma Release Exercises). At the Natural Anxiety Specialist we work with you to provide a suite of tools you can use to manage your anxiety.
Clinical experience has shown us that Homeopathy can be a useful adjunct to other treatments for different types of anxiety, including panic attacks and can help us work psychologically with underlying issues. If we feel you would benefit from a greater focus on Homeopathic treatment, we will make a recommendation.
Overall life balance is a crucial factor in reducing and eliminating stress and anxiety. We explore all its aspects with you, and use coaching to create a life balance that gives you a stress free feeling of freedom.
